PRESENTING (IN ENGLISH) WORKSHOP SEMINAR:
“FROM STYLE TO FORM”
Facilitator: Jon Dujmovich (M.A., CELTA)
Every Wednesday, we have “Progress Report Meetings”, wherein RAs explain a progress in their research to audiences with different fields and/ or professions. One of the challenges for this meeting is that RAs would recognize a difficulty in explaining contents to these audiences and thus make a presentation by paraphrasing contents, the presentation that could be different from that in academic societies and others.
In this camp, Mr. Jon Dujmovich, a facilitator, guided RAs towards the following two goals.
· To improve skills to convey student’s research concisely and clearly in English
· To present in English with confidence
As Mr. Dujmovich energetically facilitated this seminar for two days, RAs practiced presentations in English with three kinds of presentation methods. In addition, by receiving advice from mentors, faculty members, and graduates, all RAs were able to experience improved points of presentations. It was a great opportunity to improve their skills.
Presentation Practice of Policy Proposals & Roundtable Discussion by Graduates
At the end of February 2018, several RAs will present their policy proposal. Therefore, they practiced their presentations in this camp and we made an enthusiastic discussion with the graduates and other members. We then held a roundtable discussion with the graduates. RAs asked the graduates about how they worked in industry, ministries or agencies and how the experiences in this program have been utilized, etc.
